The
FANTASY
5 Home Run Challenge
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
|
GENERAL CONTEST-RELATED QUESTIONS
Question: Can I pick ANY player in the
Home Run Challenge?
Answer:
We have an extensive list of the most prominent Home Run hitters assembled
from both leagues. Once registered and after login, you will be able to
see the available players to make your selections. We have 100 players
listed and we will change them when they are injured for an extended period
of time or if a player that is not listed has been requested or if a player
warrants a spot on the list. No players will be added during the middle
of the contest week.
Question: How do I submit my weekly
lineup?
Answer:
Once you are registered, you will be emailed your confirmation of entry
that will have the login and password to access the contest. Once you are
logged in, there will be a link (on the left navigation bar) called "make
picks". You click this link and a window will pop up that lists all available
players and their associated salaries. You can make your lineup daily or
make them in advance.
Question: Can I enter more than one
team?
Answer:
Yes, you may enter as many teams as you wish. The cost is $4.99 per team per each contest week. There are significant discounts for purchasing mutliple weeks.
Question: I would like to play the
whole year, how do I do this?
Answer:
The way we have set it up is you have the option to play a single week
or purchase "multiple weeks". When you purchase multiple weeks, they are
treated as credits. You will be decremented a week each time you make a
lineup for a new contest week. Your credits will only be used when you actually
submit a lineup. Once you submit a lineup, our system will recognize you
as playing that week. You can purchase multiple weeks when you register
or from within the contest screens.
Question: Can you explain how your prizes work?
Answer:
The weekly prizes are based on a minimum of 50 paid entries during each given week. If this minimum number is met (and exceeded) we will adjust the prizes upward. This was necessary due to the contest structure. The Championship Round prizes is based on an average minimum of 250 entries. This is setup this way due to the various packages available for purchase.
Question: Can I leave my same lineup
in for the whole week?
Answer:
You can have the same lineup BUT you must select a lineup for each day.
The lineups are NOT carried forward. There is a built-in schedule (within
the selection screen) for your convenience that will show you the teams
that are playing on that day. It is your responsibility to know the players
you are selecting in case they are injured or are not playing for some
reason. We show the schedules for the teams playing on that day. We use
the initial schedule. Rainouts and re-scheduled games may not be listed
so be sure you know before picking your players.
Question: How will I know if I am staying
within your $1,000,000 Salary Cap when I select my players?
Answer:
Not to worry. We have a real-time calculator that shows your aggregate
salary as you select your players. The system will not allow you to go
over the salary cap. Also, the system will not let you SAVE your selections
until ALL FIVE of your players have been selected.
Question: Why is there weekly contests?
Answer:
This allows people to come and go throughout the season. Often people want
to join contests after a season has started and the player can 1) not play,
or 2) be at a horrible disadvantage. This format allows everyone to be
on a "even playing field" each and every week. Plus, if you place in the
Top 5 in any given week, you are automatically entered into the Championship
Week contest.
Question: How does your scoring format
work?
Answer:
This is simple. If your player hits a Home Run, he will get credit for
the home run. The total home runs for all you players for each day are
accumulated toward your weekly total - the total home runs for your players
will be your score. The most home runs WINS. We have a tiebreaker system
in case there are ties.
Question: How does your TIEBREAKER
work?
Answer:
If you have the same amount of home runs as one or more players then the
tiebreaker system will be as follows: 1) Lowest Cumulative Salary Cap used
("most efficient use of the salary cap"), and 2) total home run prediction
for the week. If teams are still tied, then the prizes will be evenly divided
amongst tied teams
Question: In the Tiebreaker, I noticed
I am required to give a "home run prediction"...how does this work?
Answer:
This is only used to break a tie. You simply predict how many home runs
all your players will hit over the course of the week. For example, if
you think your players will hit an average of 3 home runs per day, then
your weekly prediction would be 21 (3 per day x 7 days). Again, this is only used
if there is a tie after the first tiebreaker.
Question: What time do I have to have
my picks made by?
Answer:
The deadline each day is 12:00 pm EST. The system automatically closes
the selection window at 12:00 pm each day.
Question: What happens if my player's
game gets rained out?
Answer:
You will not get credit for this player. You only earn points for players
that hit home runs on the days that there are games.
Question: What happens if my player
has a double header, do I get credit for any home runs hit?
Answer:
Yes if you select a player that has a double header or has a continuation
of a previously postponed game you will get credit for all home runs hit
on that day. Again, the players are tied to the schedule of games being
played that day.
Question: What do we do when there
is a "limited" schedule?
Answer:
We are aware of this and we have reviewed the schedule and there are a
few weeks where there are particular days where there is a limited schedule.
All participants will be faced with the same dilema. The participants will
still need to submit a lineup for that day. There is enough players to
chose from. These cases are rare and everyone will be on a equal playing
field.
Question: What happens if I forget
to submit a lineup on a day?
Answer:
There is NO DEFAULT lineup feature in this contest. A lineup is required
for each day. Furthermore, since the "lowest salary cap used" is one of
the tiebreakers, and a participant forgets or otherwise does not submit
a lineup, a salary cap of $1,000,000 will be used for that day. This will eliminate
the potential situation where a participant is ahead in the weekly contest
with "X" home runs and has a low cumulative salary cap for the week and
tries to expoit the game by keeping a low salary cap. This would probably
never happen but this feature has been added to preserve the respect and
integrity of the Fantasy 5 Home Run Challenge.
Question: I only want to pick my favorite players and don't care about the other players, is there an easy way to do this?
Answer:
YES. We have incorporated a nice feature called "Favorite Picks" which allows you assign a list of your selected favorite players. After you select and save these players, you can use this feature to automatically build your team. This is optional! To learn about this feature, click the link that says "Click here to setup your Favorite Picks". This is displayed when you select the link to make your picks.
Question: Is there a Weekly Contest during the "All Star" break?
Answer:
There is NOT a Contest Week during the All Star Break since there is only games from Thursday through Sunday of that week. The contest will resume the following week.

my selections over the Internet - what should I do?

The single biggest reason people have difficulty trading and registering
over the Internet is due to outdated software. Our web site is very cutting
edge in its technology and in order to take advantage of the improvements
you have to be sure you are using the most current versions of the available
browsers (Internet Explorer, Netscape, AOL, etc.). The second thing to
look at is whether you are accepting "cookies". A cookie is a piece of
information that the web site stores on your computer for future reference.
Once you have entered your ID and password into the login screens, the
info is stored as a cookie in your machine for use in the following pages.
If you are not accepting the cookie, the following pages can't find the
information they are looking for, which will then force you back to the
login screen. To remedy this, go into your browser's options and make sure
the option for accepting cookies in enabled, then restart your machine.
If this still does not fix the problem, please contact your tech support
people at your ISP or call our main office (303-683-8896).

access the website?
Answer:
This would be rare. Our website is hosted on a very reliable server and
is monitored 24/7. If there is a problem, make sure it isn't local. Many
local ISP's have intermittent problems that may cause delays or problems
